Jamie Woon’s “Night Air” glides in like a gleaming black panther through the undergrowth. It’s eerie and seductive and almost begs for the night and the release only the midnight hour can bring. Jamie, a Brit School graduate (a sort of a “Fame” school if you will. Amy Windehouse and Leona Lewis are just a few other famous Brit School graduates), has been chosen for this year’s influential BBC Sound of 2011 list. A Clapham lad, he hails from a musical family and has been the sound of the underground with his techno soul dubstep for quite a while now. His vocals have been compared to that of 90s soul wunderkind Lewis Taylor and even Stevie Wonder, but I hear a lot of old school Michael Jackson in the mix. A captivating soundtrack for the witching hour. I am hooked.
