I Can See Widows And Orphans Through My Tears

For two weeks on my way to work I walked past the poster advertising Mumford and Sons album “Sigh No More” thinking it was an ad for an old TV sitcom Stepford and Son. How’s that for observation skills?
In reality Mumford and Sons are four West London lads- Marcus Mumford, Country Winston, Ben Lovett, and Ted Dwane who are doing something unthinkable. Making me love folk music. They look like the Desperate Romantics with their good looks and floppy hair, and their songs are full of wistful lyrics about London winter winds and lonely hearts. It’s passionate and honest music with a wicked wry sense of humour. The band say they want to make music that’s “Loud, proud and live”.  Some people call it nu-folk. I think maybe it should be called roots’n’roll.
